Former French Open champion Gaston Gaudio has withdrawn from next week’s
Wimbledon championships.

Gaudio, who won Roland Garros in 2004, will be replaced in the draw by fellow Argentine Juan-Pablo Guzman.

He joins Belgium’s Xavier Malisse and Thailand’s Paradorn Srichaphan as the
highest-profile withdrawals so far from the grasscourt grand slam.

Belgium’s Xavier Malisse has been forced to withdraw from this year’s Wimbledon because of a wrist injury.
The world number 31 was a semi-finalist in 2002. His place in the draw is taken by Yen-Hsun Lu of Taipei.

Malisse has won two ATP Tour titles this season but has been dogged by a right wrist problem.

Austrian world number 35 Jurgen Melzer is out for unspecified reasons and is replaced Germany’s Michael Berrer.

Paradorn Srichaphan and Jose Acasuso have already pulled out of the tournament, which starts on 25 June.
